Pumpkin Pictures Easy Enough for Kids

Last weekend my three year old grandaughter wanted to make a Halloween craft.

Here is what I came up with. I made some pumpkin patterns.   She was able to cut them out  with a little bit of help and glue them on to black paper.
Materials:
Pattern
Orange, green, brown and black craft paper
Glue and scissors
Instructions:
Cut the pumpkin out on orange paper. Cut the stem out of brown. Cut the leaf out of green. Glue on to black paper. You can add writing with stickers. You can also add a face using our face patterns form our Pumpkin Craft for Small Children.

How to Scrapbook for Beginners

Scrapbooking has been around for decades. I remember my grandmother had a picture history book that was 4 or 5 inches thick.  People from all walks of life have discovered the joys of creating albums to showcase their treasured photos and keepsakes. But with all the elaborate scrapbooking techniques and myriad embellishments available, getting started can be intimidating.
The truth is, anyone that can use scissors and glue can scrapbook. And you don't have to spend ridiculous amounts of money to create attractive pages. With some basic supplies and a little imagination, you can create lovely scrapbooks that will be adored for years to come. I made my first granddaughter a scrapbook of the first year of her life. She looks through almost every time she comes to my house.
I suggest you start with just the basics to see if you enjoy scrapbooking. If you don't have the time, money or know-how to create elaborate scrapbooks, just start off simple, and learn new techniques as you go.
If you have ever wanted to try your hand at scrapbooking now is your time. There is no wrong way to do it. Just follow these steps and have fun. Click here to let the creation begin!

Black permanent marker
Craft knife
String of 50 clear low-wattage holiday lights

Shrunken Heads

These decorations need to be made at least 1 week before Halloween in order for them to shrink
Materials:

1 c. Lemon juice
Apple corer
Firms Apples
1 TBS Salt
Paring Knife
Black Pen
Cocktail stick and a length of heavy string if you want to make garland
Instructions:
Peal and core your apples. Use the black pen to draw whatever facial expressions and features on one side of the apple. Make the drawings large so when the apple shrinks you can see them. Carve out the facial features with a paring knife. Pour salt into the lemon juice. Dip each apple into the juice solution. This will help eliminate the apple from turning too brown. Leave the apples out somewhere warm such as above a radiator or an airing cupboard. In a few days the apples will shrink and shrivel to look like wrinkled faces. **Craft came from Spooky Fun Book by Marion Haslam 2005**

Invitations for your Halloween Party

Monster Invitation Instructions

Materials

Paper, 1 sheet, shirt = 4 invitations
           1 sheet, pants=6 invitations
1 sheet, head and hands=6 invitation
Index paper-Black base, 1 sheet=2 invitations

Instructions:
In a space of 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep. Print your information for your party in a word program.
If you do not want to use a computer, you can skip this step and write on the shirts after they are copied. Print off 4 copies and paste them on the shirt pattern.  If you use white paper on the white shirt pattern it will not show the lines of the paper when copied. Make a copies on your, color paper for shirts. You will make as many sheets as needed for the number of invitations you will be making divided by four.
Now make copies of  the heads and hands pattern using your skin color paper. You will need to make one pair for each invitation. I used a silver pen to whiten the teeth and tape.
Now make copies of pants pattern using your pants color. Again, you will make one for each invitation. I used a black sharpie to darken the shoes and hair.
Cut the black index board in half lengthwise.  Paste on your pants and shoes in the center bottom of the ½ index sheet, leaving 1/16 from the edge. Next glue on the shirt, put it on top of the pants in the center of the black index sheet. Now glue on the head. Click here for patterns.
